Mrs. Barbara Fischer

allen
Career Counseling

We are very pleased to be adding a new position to our staff – that of career counselor – and we can’t imagine a better fit, and a more skilled person to fill this job than Barbara Fischer, a nationally certified career counselor.

Mrs. Fischer worked for ten years, from 1997 – 2006 for Lander College for Women ,a division of Touro College, offering career guidance for the students. Additionally, from 1989 – 1997, she worked for RCC – Rockland Community College – as a Lifeskills Instructor and Stress Management Instructor. While there, she taught classes in time management.... and other topics as well as advising students during registration regarding the best classes for them to take, given their interests and skills. Of course at Yeshiva at IDT, there is NO stress, and No difficult people – but. . . . .we know our students can put those skills to good use anyway!

Mrs. Fischer will be offering our students her guidance in helping them recognize their individual interests and abilities, and then offering suggestions for how to select coursework that is a good shidduch with these goals. Mrs. Fischer will also help students with resume writing, vocational assessment, and job search techniques.

Mrs. Fischer holds a Masters in Counseling from Manhattan College, a Masters in French literature from NYU, and primary and advanced certificates in cognitive therapy. Currently she maintains a Monsey private practice in career counseling.

Barbara is very excited about joining Yeshiva at IDT in the fall:

"I'm very happy about this job because it gives me the opportunity to help the students clarify what their strengths are, and to show them how to apply these assets to building a meaningful career. The rebbeim are very concerned with the well-being of the students, and I can tell already that Yeshiva a IDT is a very personal place, a nice comfortable place for me to be." Mrs. Fischer is a mother and grandmother and lives with her husband in Monsey.
